dace.

I really need to break from my J.Crew monotony. However, I find myself attracted to clothing way outside of my budget. Take dace for example. I am totally ready to embrace it- ready everywhere except my pocketbook. They do have decent sales I suppose. I might have to give something a try when the price is right. In the meantime, feast on these pretty dace items.

The Catorialist

So many of you know I am a 'reader" of The Sartorialist. Well, you can imagine my delight when I (*ahem* Aaron) came across The Catorialist. Take a look at these stylish kitties as they go about their business.

just what I wanted...

It is such a wonderful feeling to have found the perfect jean. I went to Madewell today on Newbury Street and there I found that elusive wardrobe item. They do exist! I've been on the look out for black denim for sometime and, thanks to the tip from Wicksten, I found them at Madewell. This is an offshoot of J Crew, and I was pleasantly surprised to find they are located in Boston. I was hoping to get their 37s, as they are cheaper, but the Rail Straight cut was so perfect. A bit pricey, but now that we are budgeting, I can save up for more expensive things and not feel bad about it. I am ready to donate all the denim I have that I feel just so so about and start over with Madewell.

classic shoes

I totally want these shoes right now... (Jill I know you used to have a pair- maybe in white?)

grey t-shirt

I have found that a grey t-shirt is a must have for any wardrobe. I used to (and usually still do) rely on ribbed white tanks as my first layer undershirt, but have come to find that a grey tee 1) goes with everything, 2) can be classily dressed up or down, and 3) adds a little more interest than plain white. Yes sometimes I think about what I wear this much. I confess.

mens oxfords and bright red socks.

I would love some mens oxford shoes like the ones above from the  2008 JCrew Holiday catalog. Men's shoes don't really some in my size for the most part. Very cool though. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm also on the look out for bright red socks. I've noticed more men wearing bright socks to match their tie. I really want to adopt that too.

new boots!

I just got new boots to replace my favorite but leaking wellies. I love my new ones; they are so classic, and I had an awesome discount code. I imagine myself herding sheep in Scotland somewhere. They are the Hunter work boots that farmers actually wear, called Argyll. And they fit! (my old ones were maybe a bit too small).

shoes, shoes, wonderful shoes

Can we talk about awesome shoes for a minute? I have been craving to get some incredibly hip shoes, but always hesitate when I think about the occasions when I would actually wear them. Besides, sometimes its more fun to dream about them than commit to just one pair. So here are some new finds:

1) Beverly by Remix

2) Fly London Sally Pump

3) Sandal by Remix Vintage

4) Ribbon Tie Ballerina from Toast

5)Suede Brogue also from Toast

6) Candela Tassle Oxford found at Urban.

Any favorites? I actually think I would wear the last three more regularly. And the top ones are AMAZING. Shoes are fun, and it's better to covet from affar.

big sur meets helsinki

Lina Rennell has a new Spring 09 collection that I really love called Big Sur Meets Helsinki. What a great vintage inspired swimsuit. I would totally wear that. Already I'm missing the ease of summer and the airy dresses. I have a long way way to go. Thanks unruly things for bringing this to my attention!

GOOP

GOOP is awesome. I first learned of it through Jessica's blog (another shout-out) and think its a really cool idea. What is GOOP you may ask. It is a weekly newsletter put out by Gwyneth Paltrow on a variety of topics including cooking, traveling, exhibits, fashion and the soul. So okay, my instant reaction was not to like it because it makes me cringe thinking just because you're a celebrity its assumed you know what you're talking about, but its actually quite nice and unpretentious. I recommend checking it out.

style inspirations: living on the cheap

One thing a poor student girl like me needs is to be able to reproduce things I like that are expensive into something I can afford. Somedays when I leave for school or work I relish in the fact that my whole outfit came from ebay, plato's closet, and crossroads trading post. This makes me happy. Here is an expensive outfit I'd like to reproduce from Miranda Bennett Designs for my boss from the store's wedding.

I've also been loving  Coton
